1. Introduction

Welcome to CampusConnection (“CampusConnection”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our website, mobile experiences, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

By accessing or using CampusConnection, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

CampusConnection is a marketplace and community platform that helps verified students connect with each other to buy, sell, trade, and discover campus-related opportunities.

2. Eligibility & Student Verification

To use the student features of CampusConnection, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live), or have the consent of a parent or guardian where permitted by law; and
  • Use a valid .edu email address or other university-approved verification method to create and maintain your account.

We may require additional verification at any time and may suspend or terminate access if we are unable to verify your status.

3. Your Account & Security

You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate and complete registration information;
  • Keeping your login credentials secure; and
  • All activity that occurs under your account.

You agree to notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorized access or use of your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to safeguard your account.

We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are otherwise deemed risky or abusive.

4. Marketplace & Platform Use

CampusConnection provides tools for students and approved organizations to:

  • List items, services, tickets, or opportunities;
  • Browse and purchase or exchange items;
  • Post or discover events, jobs, and campus-related activities; and
  • Communicate with other users through messaging or other interaction tools.

CampusConnection does not own, control, or verify the items, services, or information listed by users, and is not a party to any transaction between users unless explicitly stated in a specific feature or program.

You understand that any transaction you enter into is solely between you and the other user.

5. Listings, Content, and Accuracy

When you create a listing, post content, or share information on the Service, you agree that:

  • All information is accurate, current, and not misleading;
  • You have the right to offer the item, ticket, service, or opportunity;
  • Your listing complies with university policies and applicable law; and
  • You will update or remove listings that are no longer available or accurate.

We may remove or modify listings or content at our discretion, including but not limited to cases of suspected fraud, safety concerns, or policy violations.

6. Transactions, Payments & Fees

Some features of CampusConnection may involve payments (for example, buying or selling items or tickets). When you use these features:

  • You authorize us and/or our third-party payment processors to process payments on your behalf;
  • You agree to any applicable fees that are clearly disclosed prior to completing a transaction;
  • You are responsible for any taxes, duties, or other charges that may apply to your transactions.

All payment processing is handled by trusted third-party providers. We do not store complete payment card details on our own servers.

Refunds, cancellations, or disputes related to transactions are generally between buyers and sellers, except where specific CampusConnection policies or protections apply.

7. Safety, Meetups & User Conduct

CampusConnection is designed for students to meet and transact more safely, but:

  • We do not conduct background checks on users;
  • We do not guarantee the identity of any user; and
  • We do not supervise in-person meetups.

When meeting in person, we strongly recommend:

  • Meeting in well-lit, public locations;
  • Bringing a friend when possible;
  • Avoiding cash when you can use secure digital payments; and
  • Trusting your instincts and discontinuing any interaction that feels unsafe.

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, or abuse any user;
  • Engage in fraud, scams, or misrepresentation;
  • Use CampusConnection to buy or sell illegal, dangerous, or prohibited items; or
  • Violate any applicable laws, regulations, or university rules.

8. Prohibited Activities

In addition to any other restrictions in these Terms, you agree that you will not:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or related systems;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service;
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or scraping tools without our prior written permission;
  • Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation;
  • Upload or distribute malicious software, viruses, or harmful code.

We may investigate and take appropriate action, including removing content, suspending accounts, or contacting law enforcement where required.

9. Intellectual Property

The CampusConnection name, logo, design, and all software, text, images, and other content we provide are owned by or licensed to us and are protected by intellectual property laws.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Service or any of its content (except for content you create yourself), except as permitted by these Terms;
  • Use our trademarks or branding without our prior written consent.

You retain ownership of content you create and share on CampusConnection, subject to the license granted below.

10. Your Content & License to Us

“Your Content” includes any text, photos, videos, listings, messages, reviews, profiles, or other material you submit or display on the Service.

By posting or uploading Your Content, you grant CampusConnection a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable license to:

  • Use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, and display Your Content;
  • Promote the Service and your listings; and
  • Operate, improve, and provide the Service to you and others.

You represent and warrant that:

  • You own or have the necessary rights to Your Content; and
  • Your Content does not infringe any third-party rights, violate any law, or breach university policies.

We may remove or restrict Your Content at our discretion if it appears to violate these Terms or poses risk to users or the platform.

11. Student Profiles & Public Information

CampusConnection may provide profile pages and public “mini-profiles” showing limited information (such as first name, last initial, university, major, rating, and total sales) to help other users evaluate whether to buy from or interact with you.

You control much of the information in your profile and can update it in your account settings, but certain basic information (such as your first name, initial, and university) may be displayed as part of the normal functioning of the platform.

We do not publicly display sensitive fields such as GPA, courses taken, or similar academic details without your explicit consent.

12. Messaging & Communications

The Service may include messaging or chat features. You agree that:

  • Messages should be used primarily for legitimate marketplace or campus-related purposes;
  • You will not send spam, harassment, or abusive communications; and
  • We may review limited message content (only where permitted by law and our policies) to investigate abuse, fraud, or security issues.

We may also send you transactional emails, notifications, or updates related to your account, security, or listings. Some non-essential notifications can be managed in your settings.

13. Third-Party Services & Links

The Service may contain links to websites, services, or resources operated by third parties (including payment processors, social networks, or university systems). We do not control and are not responsible for:

  • The availability or accuracy of such external sites or services; or
  • Any content, products, or services offered by third parties.

Use of third-party services is at your own risk and may be subject to additional terms and privacy policies.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including, but not limited to:

  • Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement;
  • Any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free; or
  • Any warranty regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content or listings.

You use the Service at your own risk.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CampusConnection and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates will not be liable for any:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages;
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses;
  • Damages resulting from (a) your use of or inability to use the Service; (b) any conduct or content of any user or third party; (c) any unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content.

In all cases, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will be limited to the greater of:

  • The amount you paid to us (if any) in the 6 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim; or
  • USD $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CampusConnection and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your use of the Service;
  • Your violation of these Terms; or
  • Your infringement of any rights of another person or entity.

17. Termination & Suspension

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe:

  • You have violated these Terms or other policies;
  • Your use of the Service poses a risk to us, other users, or third parties; or
  • We are required to do so by law or university partners.

You may stop using the Service at any time and, in some cases, may request account deletion. Certain information may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as fraud prevention or dispute resolution).

18. Changes to the Service & These Terms

We may modify or discontinue parts of the Service at any time, including adding or removing features.

We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and may provide additional notice (for example, via email or in-app notification) where required.

Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

19. Governing Law

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware (or the state where the operating company is organized), without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in that jurisdiction for the resolution of any dispute that cannot be resolved informally.
